UMDHU Board of Health

Description

The Upper Missouri District Health Unit Board of Health (UMDHU) is a multi-county board which includes Williams County, Divide County, and Mountrail County. The Williams County Commission appoints 3 members to the board of health. The powers and duties are set forth in North Dakota Century Code Chapter 23-25 and include the power and duty to make rules regarding any nuisance, source of filth, and any cause of sickness which are necessary for public health and safety; adopt confinement, decontamination, and sanitary measures which are necessary when an infectious or contagious disease exists; make and enforce orders in local matters if an emergency exists; inquire into any nuisance, source of filth, or cause of sickness; may abate or remove any nuisance, source of filth, or cause of sickness when necessary to protect public health and safety; supervise any matter relating to preservation of life and health, including any water supply and sewage system; and isolate, kill, or remove any animal affected with a contagious or infectious disease if the animal poses a material risk to human health and safety.

Qualifications: Three members must be residents of Williams County
Compensation: $100 + actual expenses for members appointed by the Williams County Board of County Commission

Meeting Schedule: Last Tuesday of the month in January, April, July and October at 6:30 pm at the UMDHU (110 W Broadway).
