About
Department Head: Marsha Hughes
The Williams County Adolescent Care Center (WCACC) is a North Dakota-certified 24/7 shelter care site for youth ages 12 through 17 that have been referred through the court system or by a Human Service Zone. In addition, the WCACC has been established as an Attended Care Site for Law Enforcement referred youth who have usually been cited for an offense. Short-term beds can be made available for youth who are victims of Human Trafficking.
The WCACC also accommodates youth that qualify for the “Children in Need of Services” (CHINS) program, which aims to provide short-term supervision and placement for youth under the age of 14 that have exhibited ungovernable behaviors or have used tobacco and related products. Along with CHINS programming, a Diversion Program is offered for youth who may be struggling with effectively completing their education, experiencing behavior challenges, and may have encountered the justice system for the first time. Staff meet with youth and their guardians on a weekly basis to report on grades and behavior and set small, short-term goals.
