CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

Construction at Blacktail Dam, as part of the Parks Master Plan implementation effort, is expected to begin in May 2025. Information about park closures and availability of campsites will be posted to this page later this spring as construction schedules are confirmed.

About

*10/21/2024: Water access at the main campground spigot, the shower house, and the fishing cleaning station has been turned off for the season. Water will be turned back on in May 2025.*

The park at Blacktail Dam is located about 25 miles north of Williston and offers camping, picnic areas, boating, and several playgrounds. There is also a 9 hole golf course located on the north side of the park.

 Boating

All motorized and non-motorized watercraft are allowed.

 Golf

The Blacktail Dam Golf Course is a 9 hole, par 3 course located on the north side of the park. A $5 donation is suggested. Please bring your own clubs, balls, and tees. A bathroom and a picnic shelter are located by the 1st tee. Download the course map here.

 Campfires

Campfires may only be built in the provided fire rings, which may not be moved from their current location. All fires must be supervised by a person of at least 18 years of age and must be maintained in a safe manner in accordance of the ND Rangeland Fire Danger Index. Camping Information

Nightly Camping

Due to construction for park improvements, camping may be limited or unavailable at Blacktail Dam for the 2025 camping season. Seasonal sites will not be offered. More information will be posted to this page later this spring.

Primitive or Tent Campsites: $10/night
There are 9 dedicated tent campsites.

Primitive camping is allowed anywhere on park land, but campfires are only allowed in fire rings.

Electric Campsites: $15/night
There are 55 campsites with electrical hookups (20/30/50 amp).

Group Camping
There is one site with electrical hookups designated for Group Camping. Campers must pay individually, per night. A minimum of 2 campers/RVs and a maximum of 4 campers/RVs are allowed.

Overflow Camping
There are 9 campsites designated for Overflow Camping; these campsites are only available during special events.
